AE portfolio tips

Architectural Elite receives emails containing architectural, interior design or 3D Visualisation portfolios on a daily basis, we've seen a lot of good examples and equally a lot of bad examples. We decided to put together a guide so that you can make the right decisions about what it should look like, what information it should contain and how to send your portfolio.

Your portfolio should be a sample of your best work which highlights who you are and what you're about, this is the time to show off you're creative side and really ruffle those feathers. The images should all be contained in 1 easy to open document and you should be able to manoeuvre through the document. Make sure it tells a story of your work, you could even add a few details to the side of the images about the project but definitely don't forget to label each image to show the date the work was produced, the name of the project and ALWAYS ONLY show your own work.

Before you start your portfolio make sure it can be easily emailed and received, so not too big please and make sure you use a commonly known IT package such as powerpoint or a PDF document so as not to disappoint! Be specific about your image selection so that your range of experience is highlighted throughout.

If after reading this you are still stuck and would like some help we have a team of designers to help you put together your images in a very professional manner, you can either email us for more information at info@architectural-elite.com or check out our AE Marketing and Design page for some more information.

Portfolio check list:

  • Make sure it contains the very best examples of your work
  • Contain some variety eg, internal and external images as well as 3D visuals
  • Make sure the document as a whole is not too big
  • Never send individual emails with attached images... there's nothing worse and more unprofessional!
  • Use a well known/well used package such as powerpoint or adobe reader

Architectural portfolio suggestions:

  • Architectural Visualisations, Internal, external and landscape
  • Architectural detailed working drawings

Interior Design portfolio suggestions:

  • Interior Design story boards with examples of furniture designs, fixture designs and equipment designs.
  • Interior perspectives and layouts

3D Visualisation portfolio suggestion:

  • 3D Visualisation of interior, exterior and landscape examples
  • High resolution images which show light, shades, shadows and reflections
